Independent game studio

Games that start the moment you click.

gamestao is a one-person studio building cross-platform games in TypeScript: a hand-drawn strategy game, a weapon-hoarding roguelite, and a number puzzle. No installer, no launcher — each of them runs in the browser first.

Three games

Different genres, one technical foundation — and all of them a click away.

Turn-based strategy

Nivara

A hand-drawn card battle over a base you have to tear down.

Two bases, a hand of six rotating cards, and ink to spend. Deploy infantry, raise barracks and arrow towers, and break through to the enemy base before the match clock forces a draw.

Roguelite shooter

DayDayUp

Hoard weapons. Deflect bullets with a sword. Run it again.

A top-down roguelite built around its weapons. Guns do what you expect; melee weapons block and deflect incoming fire, which turns every corridor into a question of which hand to use.

Number puzzle

SumQuest

Tap two numbers that add up to the target. Beat the clock.

A pure, language-free matching puzzle. The board shows a target; find two tiles that sum to it and they vanish. Nineteen hand-tuned levels take the target from 6 all the way to 99.

About the studio

One developer, three games, and a stack picked so that nothing gets in the way of shipping.

gamestao is the studio of Tao Wang, an independent developer. Every game here is built and maintained by one person — design, code, art pipeline, and the servers behind them.

All three games share a technical foundation: TypeScript and PixiJS on WebGL. That is a deliberate choice. One codebase reaches the browser, iOS, Android and WeChat Mini Games without a rewrite per platform, and a browser build means a game is one click away from being played rather than one download.

Where a game needs a real backend it has one — authoritative match servers, matchmaking, deterministic simulation, player-driven economies. Nothing here is a prototype left online to rot.
